In support of the designer, APP looked at the process by which designers think. How do you work and produce your files, what are the variables, and what affects your choices? Colour is one of the most challenging. Our concept is simple; give designers an accurate reference for colour by properly implementing colour management strategies when specking a print job. The way the system works is this: when you understand the variables you can predict the outcome.

The CRS is an industry first when it comes to solving the ongoing challenge of matching colour on press. What is unique about this system is the relationship it has with the industry’s first press specification, GRACoL. Instead of printing on one unique press with its unique colour space we decided to print to the GRACoL specification. This offers the designer the confidence that the colours printed in this book will match any GRACoL press.

The GRACoL system is being adopted as the de-facto standard in offset printing.
